Educational  programme

Participants must be prepared to commit to the two-three years of the project.  In the first instance participants must familiarize themselves with the current education programmes and the roles and responsibilities and national involvement of RTTs in their country,

The four phases of the project are:

1.         Train the RTT Trainers (5 days – 9 to 13 September 2012).

Participants will define the topic for their first course and outline an overall plan for the education programme. During this first week they will have introductory lectures on how to design, organise, and deliver and evaluate a course, supported by practical sessions.

At the end of phase one, it is expected that participants will have prepared:

a.     an outline programme for the first three day course including potential faculty members and support network, teaching methodology, course evaluation and the resources required.,

b.     have gained some skills in the preparation of lectures (collection and evaluation of information, preparing ppt presentations),

c.     defined timelines

d.     Identified a liaison person in their national education programme.

2.         Phase Two: First local course (3 days – between January and July 2013).

The local faculty will deliver a 3-day local course and evaluate this course. They will be visited by two of the international faculty who will attend for a part of the course and give a contributory lecture if required and if feasible.

3.         Phase Three: The consolidation course (3 days – October 2013)

The initial group will meet to discuss their experience in preparing and delivering their courses, and commence preparation of the second and third courses incorporating what they have learnt from the first course.

4.         Phase Four: Second and third local courses and programme evaluation (3 days between January and December 2014).

Two further courses will be delivered and the group will then evaluate the entire programme.  They will explore the longer term plan for education of RTTs within their own country and how their short courses can be integrated into the national education programme.

5.         Interim support for participants.

Interim support to the participants will be provided through E-learning via Eagle. This can be on an individual basis but also a series of pre arranged group sessions could be very useful.  All education initiatives based on this programme must be first sent to the course directors and approved by the faculty.
