Aims and objectives
ESO is pleased to announce the 2nd Masterclass in Radiation Oncology in partnership with ESTRO. This clinically-oriented educational programme has been designed to offer a unique learning experience and to provide practice-oriented training to radiotherapists and to clinical oncologists with knowledge in the field. The Masterclass will offer plenary lectures focusing on state-of-the-art treatments and will fully involve the (max. 50) participants through case presentations, research proposals and interactive discussions.
Ideal masterclass candidate
- Age between 30 and 45 years
- Knowledge and at least 3 years experience in clinical radiation oncology or medical oncologists with basic knowledge in radiotherapy
- Involvement in scientific activities
- Fluency in English
Application and selection procedure
Interested radiotherapists or clinical oncologists with knowledge in radiation therapy should
fill in the application form (available at www.cancerworld.org/eso or www.estro.be)
and provide:
- Letter describing motivation for attending
- CV with list of publications
- Supporting letter from Head of Department or Mentor
- Abstract relating to one of the subjects of the Masterclass (head and neck, prostate, colorectal, lung cancers)
The abstract (maximum 1 page) should describe a clinical case in the form of a clinical grand-round with:
- Diagnostic considerations
- Treatment
- Results (follow-up)
- at least 3 questions proposed to discuss with the faculty
Admitttance is by competing application only.

After the selection, admitted participants will furthermore be asked to submit a research proposal. The proposal (1 page) should not be a protocol but a description of an interesting future research perspective relating to one of the subjects of the Masterclass.
